Infos

Hello everyone! My name is Christina, and I'm the manager, developer, designer, and social media team all rolled into one.

I've been sewing since around 2010 and quickly realized that I have the same problems with purchased sewing patterns as with ready-made clothes: they just don't fit right. I'm quite tall and, from a standard clothing size perspective, rather disproportionately built. Standard clothing sizes are based on (rather outdated) averages and mistakenly assume that all measurements change uniformly from one size to the next. But every body is unique!

So, back then, I was faced with the choice of painstakingly adjusting every single pattern or learning how to create my own patterns. As you can see here, I opted for the latter. ;)

I also had the idea early on of sharing my patterns with others. But how? If I work with standard clothing sizes, I can't wear my own patterns. And using my own body as the basis for a custom size chart would be incredibly confusing for everyone. But hey, I earn my living as a web developer. Can't I program something like this too?

Yes, I can! I've been working on the software and the accompanying website since 2018. The patterns can be created using standard clothing sizes, but you can also create your own measure set and thus get a completely customized pattern.

Are the sewing patterns created with AI?

No! Every sewing pattern follows a specific sequence of instructions. In principle, I proceed exactly the same way as when creating a pattern on paper.

First, the program takes the entered measurements (from the garment size or measurement set) and adds the desired ease allowances. A basic pattern is then created based on these measurements. Up to this point, all sewing patterns are essentially the same. The basic pattern is then modified depending on the design, for example, divided into individual pieces or rotated.

With the pattern kits, you have more freedom than with the sewing patterns; here, you essentially create the configuration that I predefine for the sewing patterns.

What are your privacy policies?

I completely understand that your body measurements are sensitive data. That's why there are no accounts here, and your data is not permanently stored. When you create a set of measurements, you save it to your own device and upload it from there.

For technical reasons, all downloads are stored for approximately 30 minutes in a randomly named directory on the server. After that, they are automatically deleted.

And that's really free?

Yes!

I admit, at first I also considered selling my sewing patterns. Various reasons led me to make all my patterns available for free, and I'm happy with that. You can support me via Patreon (more info here), but that's entirely voluntary. It might seem a little odd, but I like the idea that only people who are truly satisfied with my work and can afford it support me.
