I admit, I was very close to throwing this pattern into the bin more than once. ^_^° The shoulders were a bit tricky, but I think I found a good solution.
Here we have another vintage-inspired dress, this time with gatheres at the shoulders and paneled skirt.
Summer doesn't really want to get going yet. I can now add a little extra warmth to my latest summer dress with a bolero. The remaining fabric was just enough for that.
So, here's another full-size dress. For my summer wardrobe this year, I'm drawing inspiration from old vintage patterns, mainly from the American 1940s and 1950s.
The patterns are realised with my modern basic patterns, so they are not direct reproductions.
I'm starting with a dress with a shawl collar and a skirt with inset side panels cut on the bias.
For todays episode of my sewing for beginners video I am revisiting an older pattern of mine, the blouse poppy. But I did make a second version for this blouse, since I was always unhappy with the lack of a bust dart. Bust darts improve the fit for larger busts so much!
So in this video, you will learn ho to sew bust darts and facings.
This is already part three of my series! Today I show you how to sew an easy pair of pants with en elasticated waistband and patch pocket. This is kind of the sister of my skirt video two weeks ago.
In the coming weeks I'm planning a small series of videos aimed at beginners. The first video deals with general basic sewing and pattern knowledge and we sew a reversible bag - a new edition of one of my first patterns from 2011!
I hope the video explains everything you need. Otherwise just let me know!
